The seventh grade basketball team won 20-16, and the eighth grade team lost 19-54 against Lawson on Dec. 4.
Basketball coach Astaire Carter named Aaidyn Edwards the seventh grade standout player of the game.
“He really came off the bench and really played well for us,” Carter said. “He really got us back in the game with those big three point shots.”
Carter wants his seventh grade team to focus on small, fundamental techniques that can help them gain a bigger lead.
“The little small things we missed were too many layups that could have really put the game out,” Carter said.
Carter recognized Stefan Ljuboja as the eighth grade standout player of the game.

“He took the ball down the court, making the play when nobody is really trying to,” Carter said. “He stepped up for us.”
Ljuboja noted the opposing team’s height as the main disadvantage in today’s game.
“The toughest part was going against their height because they’re so much taller than us,” Ljuboja said.
The seventh grade boy’s basketball game against Welch was cancelled because Welch does not have a seventh grade team. The eighth grade boy’s basketball team will play Welch on Dec. 11 at Welch. The game starts at 6 p.m.
