Volleyball
The eighth grade volleyball team defeated Tanglewood 2-0 on Oct. 16, earning their fourth consecutive district championship. Seventh grade also won with a score of 2-1, placing second place in the district.
“The eighth grade teams this year, since I’ve been here, have never lost a district game for seventh or eighth grade years,” coach Crystal Krolczyk said.
Krolczyk named Cate Piper the seventh grade player of the game.
“When she played the second set and third she was a clear difference maker on the court,” Krolczyk said.
Krolczyck nominated Lila Byrd and Julia Rodriguez as the standout players for eighth grade.
“They both had some really good hits in the game and Julia was able to save several balls even when she was playing front row and Lila had some good serves,” Krolczyk said.
Congratulations to the eighth grade volleyball team.
Football
The football team ended their season on Oct. 21 with a 30-0 loss to Lanier. Football coach Astaire Carter identified confidence as the biggest struggle the eighth grade football team faced.
“In their opinion, they’re not scared,” Carter said. “But when I see them on the field, their answer is intimidation.”
Despite a winless season, the football team has shown growth.
“We scored our first touchdown last week,” Carter said. “We almost scored again this week, so that was pretty good.”
Cross Country
The cross country team competed in their last meet of the season on Oct. 18. Eighth grade girls and boys placed third overall, seventh grade girls placed second, and seventh grade boys placed third.
