We here at Pin Oak Press believe wild things have a right to make a living, too. We believe that those creatures of the forest and the fields and the streams ... the bluebird and the rabbit, the catfish and the squirrel, have a right to some undisturbed space of their own. We believe that they should be able to build their homes and raise their families free from intervention by us. We believe that as we continue to invade their territory and lay waste to their environment, our own human spirituality suffers in return. We believe as did the early Native American ... that we should treat the earth with the care and respect it surely deserves ... as though it were our loving old Earth-Mother…which most certainly it is. |

"The old Lakota was wise. He knew that man’s heart away from nature becomes hard; he knew that lack of respect for growing, living things soon led to lack of respect for humans, too. So he kept his youth close to its softening influence.”
Chief Luther Standing Bear ~ ~ ~ ~
